Stella Carlson Receptionist |
| Stella Carlson has been receptionist and ‘gal Friday’ since returning from Tucson, Arizona in 2003. She formerly worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in several capacities for twenty-two years and then worked at Broadlawns Hospital Medical Records for a few years. While in Tucson, she worked in a family-owned dental office. Her multi-lingual skills have been a real asset in all of her positions, being fluent in Greek and Spanish, in addition to English. Stella was born in Greece and immigrated to this country with her parents at the age of four. They fled late in World War II when the Nazis were driving Jews out of the country. Her mother and other family members have told her of the hungers, fears, and concentration camp experiences. Stella now lives happily in Urbandale with her husband, Don, and their son, Steven. She loves gardening, cooking Jewish and Greek foods, and shopping. She has a very warm compassion and understanding for people, and visitors to the funeral home find it very easy to talk with her. |
