Mark Parrish Mortuary Science student and funeral home assistant |
| Mark Parrish is attending Des Moines Area Community College in the Mortuary Science program. He will be ready to begin the practicum portion of his studies in August and then will start his internship. He is learning much about funeral home responsibilities by assisting with funerals, cremations, paper work, and other duties. He became interested in the funeral industry through a friend and also the local funeral home in Algona.
Mark grew up in Algona, IA and was graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School. He enjoyed participating in football, basketball, and track while a student there. He received his associate arts degree from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA and then moved to the Des Moines area. He worked at BestBuy until joining the funeral home staff. Mark likes living in the capitol city. He has found many things to do and feels there are many fun activities to enjoy. He likes to go to the gym, play basketball, and also get outdoors with 4-wheelers and snowmobiles. He’s been to some awesome concerts here as well. He makes trips back to Algona to visit his parents, Leigh and Marcia, and to attend some of brother John’s sporting events. |
